PROCESS

Site-specific art installations typically require creative new processes for each unique project and location. My background in architecture helps me formulate design development and project management strategies to actualize these often large and complex works of art. It is vital also to listen to the art and honor new ideas and directions that may emerge from engaging the process, community, materials, and spirit of the work.

In my 2011 installation collaboration with the dance department of Pikes Peak Community College, Confined Spaces, I made adjustments in response to the dancers' suggestions.
Much of my work requires developing template systems that create multiple originals, as in printmaking, seen here with a lower panel from my Waldsterben:SAD, sudden aspen decline installation.
The bare structure of my Irminsul Zoetrope hints at the Fibonacci spirals and sacred geometry embedded in it’s design.
The intricate template process I used for creating the upper panels of Waldsterben: SAD, sudden aspen decline, required most of my barn loft studio space.
Even during the production phases of the process of creating an installation, I rely on inspiration and balance from Nature.
